Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan welcomes three new board members

The Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan has appointed three new members to its board: Tom Wellner, Martine Irman, and Jaqui Parchment. The announcement was made by Ontario Teachers' chair Steve McGirr.

Wellner and Irman officially join the board in September.

Wellner is currently the President and CEO of Revera Inc. With a wealth of over 30 years' experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare, he has held leadership roles in organizations including Eli Lilly's German operations, LifeLabs/CML Healthcare, and Therapure Biopharma.

Wellner is also on the board of Andlauer Health Group and has previously served on the boards of FreshBooks, Novadaq Technologies, and as an advisor to Lumira Capital.

Irman brings over 30 years of financial services experience, having held positions at TD Bank Group and TD Securities. She is a seasoned board member, serving on the boards of TMX Group, First National Financial Corporation, Plan International Canada, and the St. Michael's Hospital Foundation.

Parchment will join the board in January 2025.

With more than 35 years of experience, Parchment recently served as CEO of Mercer Canada. She previously led Mercer Canada's investment business and has advised diverse boards and employers throughout her career on pension, investment, and human capital matters.

She is also on the boards of the Canadian Olympic Committee and the BlackNorth Initiative.

Wellner was appointed by the Government of Ontario, while Irman and Parchment were selected by the Ontario Teachers' Federation.

Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan manages assets worth $249.8 billion as of June 30.
