SPEAKER SESSIONS:

THINKING DIFFERENTLY: THE BENEFITS OF ACTIVE SMALL CAP VALUE INVESTING

Although the argument supporting active equity exposure can be made across multiple asset classes, global small cap equities offer a particularly attractive opportunity set for active, fundamental value managers. In our session, Bryan Barrett from the Brandes small cap investment team will discuss how and why an active value investment approach is very well-suited to global small cap investing, creating effective diversification and the potential of strong returns for long-term investors.

Speaker: Bryan Barrett, Senior Analyst, Brandes Investment Partners, L.P.

AUGMENTING PORTFOLIO PERFORMANCE WITH ALTERNATIVES

Traditional Balanced portfolios often exhibit concentrated exposures to growth and inflation risks. They perform well when economic growth is robust, but less well in periods when the economy is relatively moribund and inflation persistently high. These characteristics have encouraged investors to consider adding an eclectic mix of alternatives to existing portfolios. Alternatives present significant opportunity. This includes access to additional sources of return and income not available in traditional public market solutions, an opportunity to enhance portfolio diversification and smooth the trajectory of performance, and scope to better hedge identified tail risks. In this session, Dr. Michael Sager will discuss the relevance of alternatives to a wide range of investors, with a focus on Liquid Alternative and Hedge Fund strategies.

Speaker: Dr. Michael Sager, Executive Director, Multi-Asset & Currency, CIBC Asset Management

MANAGING THROUGH VOLATILITY

There’s no question that inflation is a hot topic in today’s markets. Risk parity strategies can offer a degree of potential inflation protection without being locked-in should market conditions begin to change. Invesco’s Global Asset Allocation team uses expertise and insights to create balanced and multi-asset strategies by combining investments across equity, fixed income, currency, commodity, and alternative investment markets. Learn more from the team on how to enhance risk-adjusted return potential and portfolio diversification by balancing risk across multiple asset classes.
