What are the most in-demand jobs in 2024?

Randstad Canada, a talent company specializing in recruitment and human resources, has released its list of the top 15 jobs that are in demand in Canada for 2024.

“This ranking is a highly relevant resource to help job seekers learn more about the most sought-after professions and the salaries associated with them, so they can make informed decisions that are consistent with their ambitions,” said Brent Dul, executive vice president at Randstad Canada.

“It's shaping up to be a very positive year for job seekers,” he added.

Experts from the recruitment firm have forecasted that 2024 will be a year filled with various employment opportunities in fields that do not require a university education.

“Today's market offers an impressive diversity of interesting opportunities, among which any job seeker can find something they like. It's a good time to reflect on your aspirations and look for a role that matches your career goals, no matter how many diplomas you have,” said Dul.

Randstad’s list highlighted the continued popularity of the traditional administration, technology, professional services, and healthcare sectors in 2024. However, customer-focused positions and trades were noticeable gaining demand.

“Demand is growing for occupations in manual industries, such as electricians and welders. The same applies to professions that specialize in customer service or customer experience,” said Dul.

Taking the top spot as the most in-demand job for the country in 2024 is administrative assistant, with an average salary ranging from $37,000 to $99,000. This is followed by sales associate with a salary ranging from $46,000 to $84,000.

Planners take up the third place with an average salary of $46,000 to $84,000, which is followed by HR business partner and logistics coordinator with an average salary of $75,000 to $156,000 and $62,000 to $122,000, respectively.

Completing the rest of the top 15 are customer service consultants, marketing managers, mechanical engineers, finance analysts, pharmaceutical assistants, accounting technicians, software developers, electricians, development and operations process engineers, and welders.

“We know that workers in 2024 are increasingly looking for flexibility, and positions requiring face-to-face presence can pose challenges in this respect,” noted Dul.

“Employers looking to fill these positions must be creative to attract job seekers.”
