McMahon brings 17 years of industry experience to the role
Specialty Life Insurance (SLi) has named Jason "Jay" McMahon as its new President and Chief Operating Officer, effective April 6, 2026.
McMahon brings a deep operational pedigree shaped over 17 years in the insurance and financial services industry.
According to a post made on the organization's LinkedIn page, he began his career as a financial security advisor before moving into leadership roles focused on advisor development, training, and distribution at Canada Life. Most recently, he served as National Vice-President of mass market insurance and investments at PPI, one of Canada's largest managing general agencies, where he led a team of business development professionals and drove measurable growth in PPI's mass market business.
“The opportunity to work alongside talented people across this organization to serve more Canadians is deeply meaningful to me,” McMahon said in a statement. “While many Canadians remain significantly underserved, I'm passionate about expanding our impact by helping more individuals and families access the insurance protection they need. I’m incredibly excited and honoured to take on the role of President & COO of Specialty Life Insurance.”
In his new role, McMahon will be tasked with balancing operational excellence against an ambitious growth agenda that includes expanding the company's product shelf and developing new markets.
Beyond his corporate roles, McMahon is recognized as an active voice in industry advocacy. He has contributed to organizations such as GAMA and LIMRA, earning a reputation as a leader committed to elevating standards across the sector. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Master of Science, and carries both the Certified Health Specialist (CHS) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations.
