WSIB and WISE Trust veteran takes helm as OPB advances strategic plan
Ontario Pension Board (OPB) has named Grant B. Walsh as chair of its board of directors, selecting a leader who already holds senior governance roles at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario (WSIB) and the WISE Trust Pension Plan.
Walsh brings board and executive experience across finance and health care, as well as other industries, and has served on more than 30 corporate boards over his career.
He is chair of WSIB, co-chair of the WISE Trust Pension Plan, and a director of Square Canada and Square Technologies, among others.
Darwin Bozek, OPB president and CEO, said he was “thrilled to welcome Grant Walsh to OPB” and highlighted his experience leading large public and private organisations.
Bozek noted Walsh’s familiarity with OPB’s investment management and oversight structure through his governance roles at WSIB and WISE Trust.
Walsh was formerly the chair of Canada Lands Company Limited, which oversees real estate properties across Canada and tourism properties, including the CN Tower, Downsview Park, the Old Port of Montreal, and the Montreal Science Centre.
He also holds a designation as a chartered director from McMaster University and the Conference Board of Canada and has served as executive-in-residence / Adjunct Professor at McMaster University.
