Hedge fund targets US$2 billion as fundraising drive accelerates in Asia

Arrowpoint Investment Partners has secured new commitments that could help push its assets toward US$2bn by the end of 2026, Bloomberg reported.

The multistrategy hedge fund firm is now seeking to raise as much as US$400m of fresh capital by the first quarter, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

The Singapore- and Hong Kong-based firm, led by former Millennium Management Asia Co-Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Xiong, currently manages about US$1.2bn.

It is accepting new money for the first time since October. Backers at inception included Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Blackstone Inc. and a unit of Temasek Holdings Pte.

Arrowpoint’s hedge fund, which launched in July 2024, gained 7.3 percent in the first eight months of 2025, including a 3 percent return in August.

The person said Asian currency and rates trades have been a major driver of performance this year.

The fundraising comes at a time when interest in multistrategy, multimanager hedge funds is showing signs of slowing.

Goldman Sachs reported in September 2024 that combined assets at 55 such firms fell in the 12 months to June 2024, marking the first decline in seven years.

Arrowpoint is part of a small group of Asia-based firms structured on the model of larger global players such as Millennium, Citadel and Point72 Asset Management.

Alongside competitors Dymon Asia Capital and Polymer Capital Management, it emphasizes a regional focus on Asia’s capital markets

The firm has expanded its investment pods to 21, representing a 20 percent increase since the end of 2024. Three more portfolio managers have already signed on to start later.

Recent hires include Wei Wei, who joined in August from Astignes Capital Asia Pte Ltd., and Jacky Yeung, who arrived earlier this year from Brevan Howard Asset Management.

Later this month, You Jiong is set to become Arrowpoint’s ninth Asia macro portfolio manager.

A former Citigroup Inc. executive who also worked at Millennium and ExodusPoint Capital Management, he will focus on China.

The person said Arrowpoint has agreed to support him if he chooses to launch his own fund in the future.

Chief Marketing Officer Elizabeth Lo declined to comment, Bloomberg reported.
