Global equity income fund opens to Canadian plans

A new Canadian pooled fund is giving pension plans and other institutional investors local access to Aviva Investors’ Global Equity Income strategy.

Aviva Investors has launched a Canadian Private Pooled Fund in Toronto for institutional investors and wealth management firms that want global equity income exposure within Canadian plan structures.

The fund is managed by portfolio managers Richard Saldanha and Edward Kevis, who run the Global Equity Income strategy globally.

The vehicle targets defined contribution pension plans, single and multi-employer defined benefit plans, endowments and foundations, First Nations accounts, and Canadian platforms.

The strategy invests in companies that can pay growing dividends, with an emphasis on opportunities outside traditional income sectors, and can sit as a standalone global equity allocation or alongside existing global equity mandates.

Q Wealth Partners has seeded the fund.

The firm provides portfolio management and investment solutions to independent advisors, with more than $7.5bn in assets under administration and $3.5bn in assets under management across its institutional pools.

The press release said the launch comes as Aviva Investors expands its institutional presence in the region.
