New benefit promises to guide beneficiaries through estate and claims tasks

Equitable adds digital bereavement support to life policies

Estate settlement, funeral planning and closing accounts are now built into the bereavement support available with all Equitable individual life insurance policies through a partnership with Empathy.

Empathy Loss Support is a complimentary benefit included with Equitable's life insurance policy and is available at no extra cost.

Clients and their loved ones can access it through an app or website, which provides guidance and support during a time of loss.

The service addresses emotional, practical and logistical aspects of bereavement.

The benefit includes one-to-one guidance from a dedicated Care Team member.

It also offers personalized plans to help navigate estate settlement, funeral planning, closing of accounts and other administrative tasks.

Grief resources are available to support emotional well-being during difficult times.

Other benefits include probate and estate guidance, ID theft prevention and custom funeral assistance.

Martin Reeves, executive vice‑president, Individual Insurance Division at Equitable, says the company is “partnering with Empathy” to better support clients and their families.

He says the aim is to offer practical help when “losing a loved one can be overwhelming.”

Ron Gura, co‑founder and CEO of Empathy, said the company is “on a mission to help as many people as possible navigate life’s most challenging moments.”

He said working with Equitable will allow Empathy to offer its bereavement services to more families.

Empathy is a technology company focused on how people plan for and navigate life's toughest moments.
