BMO named one of 'world's most ethical companies' for 7th year

BMO has earned recognition from Ethisphere, a global leader in defining ethical business practices, as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies for the seventh year in a row.

This honor places BMO among an elite group of four banks globally, including three in the US, and distinguishes it as the sole Canadian bank to receive the accolade in 2024.

Furthermore, BMO has the unique distinction of being the only bank in Canada to have received this award since its inception in 2007, highlighting its commitment to transparency, good governance, and integrity.

The award, recognizing 136 honorees across 20 countries and 44 industries, underscores BMO's dedication to fostering a thriving economy, sustainable future, and inclusive society through ethical business practices.

Ethisphere's chief strategy officer and executive chair, Erica Salmon Byrne, commended the honorees for their continuous improvement in ethics, compliance, and governance practices, noting the importance of setting a standard for corporate citizenship.

Darryl White, chief executive officer of BMO Financial Group, reflected on the recognition as a testament to BMO's commitment to ethical practices that support financial progress for customers and communities.

He emphasized the role of responsible risk management in strengthening and growing the bank.

Ethisphere's evaluation of organizations encompasses five categories: Ethics and Compliance Program; Culture of Ethics; Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility; Governance; and Third-Party Management.
