Next-day assessments help keep employees at work and plans on track

Ontario clinic cuts psychological assessment waits to days, not months

Months-long waits for psychological assessments still stall support plans at work and school — but one Ontario clinic now books some evaluations as early as the next day.

Transformation Counselling in Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge has introduced no-waitlist psychological assessments, offered both online and in person, for children, adolescents and adults.

The service targets delays that can leave employees, students and families without a diagnosis while performance at school, work and in daily life suffers.

Executive director Tyler Ford said Transformation Counselling set up the service to respond to “the challenges many face waiting months or even years for assessments” and to offer “immediate access to care.”

He said the clinic has no waitlists, simplified intake, longer hours, direct billing to major insurers and flexible payment plans so clients can connect with a suitable clinician quickly.

Clinical psychologists provide four main types of assessments: ADHD assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, autism assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder, psychoeducational assessments that examine learning strengths and challenges, and mental health psychodiagnostic assessments for various conditions.

Start times can be as early as the next day, a contrast with typical months-long queues.

Assessments are available virtually or in person, with direct billing to major insurers, extended hours seven days a week and free initial consultations to help match clients with a clinician.

Transformation Counselling also offers therapy for issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, OCD and relationship difficulties, alongside its assessment services.
